AirView requires a version 6 JRE (Java Runtime Environment) to run.
Windows users please visit the following link to determine if you have the proper JRE already installed:
http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp?detect=jre&try=1
If you don't have it installed, download and install it. Mac users, see Mac section below.
It is highly recommended that your Windows machine have the latest service pack installed before downloading any of these installers. A minimum of SP2 is required for all Windows XP, and SP1 for all Vista editions.
Apple has made a version 6 JRE available, but with some limitations. If you own a Mac Core 2 Duo, any version of O/S X v10.5.6 (and above - including 10.6) will have the required JRE 6 included. But if your Mac is a Core Duo machines built PRIOR to Oct. 2006, you will need to upgrade your O/S X to 10.6 (Snow Leopard) since that's the only version which made available the required JRE 6 for the older Macs. If you have a compatible Macintosh that has a Java 6 JRE available, you must still run Software Update on your Mac to make sure you have the latest JRE 6 installed. Alternately the Java 6 Update 5 is available from: Apple Application Updates: Java 6 Update 5. If your Mac OS X is below 10.5.7 you must first use Software Update to upgrade your O/S to that revision before being able to download/install the required JRE.
A Sun Java 6 JRE (32-bit) for Linux is required to run AirView on Linux. Other GNU-supplied JREs do not appear to work. Sun's Java 6 JRE for Linux can be downloaded from: http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp. Testing has been done on Redhat (and offshoots - Fedora, Centos, etc.), Ubuntu 8.x/9.x, and openSUSE 11.x distros. Please refer to the AirView Release Notes for installation instructions and notes.
